Swap out 0002 for newer version?

So I have the 0002 version I got on launch day. I do not have any major problems with it yet. I do have a tiny bit of light leakage though. But if HTC is making physical changes to the EVO shouldn't those of us with older versions be able to swap out for a newer version?

Did we really need a new thread for this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Couldn't you post in the 50 other threads that people have started.....

And let me guess. If you return it for another device you will need to start a new thread to tell us that you returned it.......

I don't believe this aspect has been discussed. I was thinking about this today too. I don't have any issues with my 0002 besides a slightly raised screen, but why should we get the shaft?

What aspect? Every time a new version comes out everyone who owns a prior version of the device should be upgraded.......

I hope you seriously don't believe that. Can't even believe I wasted the time typing that.

That's why there is insurance. If it breaks, get another one!

I don't remember seeing a thread about this exact situation;

*launch evo with possible future failure that is still within 30 day return window; can it be exchanged even though there is no major failure yet?

Perfect valid question.

if your screen isn't coming off of your phone, there isn't back light bleeding onto the LCD screen, and light leakage isn't so bad that it looks like a space ship is about to emerge out the sides of your phone...i wouldn't take it back just because you *think* the new revision is better. heck, i wouldn't take it back right now anyway. it could be months before the Evo is manufactured perfectly.

i got the BB insurance so i'm covered/not worried the slightest.

I paid the same price as everyone else, I got signed on to another 2 year contract like everyone else, but I have the "faulty version" of the phone. Just cause something has yet to go wrong I don't want to be stuck with this version when there are improvements being made that I should be entitled to....

Early adopters will always have devices that will have issues fixed in later models.
I have always wanted things on launch day and have had to live with the issues if I could get a replacement thats great if not I have to live with my need to always have the new one..
That is why many people don't purchess untill all the kinks are worked out.
Thats true of new software updates as well as new hardware be it a phone, computer or auto.

Eric is pissed, you can tell by the 13 exclamation points.

Eric,
Why not ignore the threads instead of being a douchebag?
No name calling please, thank you........

It's hard to ignore every other post about the same freakin thing!

My problem is it's free to exchange in the first 30 days. After that there is a $100 deductible. Should I really have to pay a deductible on a phone that was proven defective within 4 weeks post launch? I am pondering it, but I don't believe I am entitled.

Whoa you really need to start reading the forums first.

1. There are only 2 hardware versions right now, 2 and 3. Both are equally having problems so it would be worthless to swap right now. I would be willing to bet that your new phone has more problems then your problem-less phone currently.

2. The $100 deductible is only if you have insurance and only if YOU break the phone. If there is a manufacturer defect any time within a year you can bring it in for repair and/or replacement.
