Root Swap SD card & change partition size too?

Hi folks, just a quick question. If I change an sd card with fat32 & ext3 partitions on it for a bigger card, I know I can do a nandroid backup, then restore it onto the new card. (Correct me if I'm wrong!)

However, what I'm wondering is, if the old card has a 512mb ext3 partition can I create, say, a 1gb partition on the new card, and restore as before? I'm thinking I probably can, as clockworkmod seems to back up the data from the partition (not, as I originally thought, make an image of the partition itself) but again I thought it best to ask some people who actually know what they're doing. :D

Yes, it should work fine.

I've not (yet) done this for /sd-ext, but have done it many times when changing the sizes of the other (internal memory) partitions, and it should be the same principle.

You're right, it backs up the data so as long as the partition you are restoring to is bigger than the data it backs up it will work perfectly. Its only on older data2sd solutions that use a loop file that cause issues as it backs up the file rather than the contents

Excellent, thank you both for your replies - I'm gonna give it a go in the next day or two, I'll post back and report once done! :)
