Root Swapping Boot Animations

Copied the stock bootanimation.zip over to my PC, swapped images, and the desc.txt to accommodate the new image size. Then placed the modified bootanimation.zip back over and now when I boot up it takes a bit longer and shows the LG logo, nothing else, repeats it about 3 times. Not even the MetroPCS startup show anymore. So what went wrong and what do I do now?

(Directories: /system/media/ and /data/local/)

When you zip the files back up, you have to zip it as "store only" and not as "compressed."

I don't know what the data/local directory has to do with the boot animation.
 
ROM toolbox is your best bet make sure it's pro what I wanna know is how do I get a better boot animation sound

I would say sound format/file type would play a part there.

EDIT: Just tried out ROM Toolbox Pro, the preview works, but when I install then restart, same problem as when I do it manually.
 
Absolute system is what i use i change boot animations like underwear! Lol give it a try i know you will like it.

I tried it, no success. They all work the same, they just place the bootanimation.zip into /data/local/

Anyone happen to know how to restore original boot files? Just placing the stock bootanimation.zip back doesn't work.
 
/data/local works for GB. Simply dropping bootanimation.zip into /system/media works for me on ICS. I'm changing boot ani's like socks with Root Browser.
 
Rom Toolbox pretty much has any boot animation that is out there...and if you go pro you can turn any animated gif into a boot animation...

it's awesome and simple

This is how I've always changed my boot animations.

I currently have the Galaxy Nexus Jelly Bean boot animation on my Motiong 4G.

I did that... whether purposefully or not, the phone didn't brick. Also, not having one doesn't make the phone boot faster. Its just a black screen for a few seconds... then goes to lock screen, but then it pauses there to load more.

I swapped to the galaxy nexus boot using ROM toolbox. Btw change the size to 320x480. (Correct me if I'm wrong)
