I agree that for accuracy with gesture typing Google beats Swiftkey, but Google has no where the next word prediction that Swiftkey does, which is why I use it a lot less than Swiftkey. If they would improve that I'd use Google a lot more, but it still lags behind Swype and TouchPal in the next word prediction department too!
I've been a longtime fan of Swiftkey, but I still keep coming back to the Google Keyboard. It just feels smoother to me; I find myself actually making more mistakes with Swiftkey, despite its improved prediction engine.

I don't know... I find that typing seems to take longer if I'm looking for the next word to be predicted rather than just typing/swiping it myself. Maybe I'm doing it wrong. :D

My first thought was SwiftKey! But then I thought, hey... I haven't really tried the Google keyboard in a while, so I'm trying it now. It seems like the Google keyboard is a little more accurate when I swipe words - but I don't like that you can't remove some of the weird word suggestions in the Google keyboard like you can in SwiftKey. I'm 50/50 on them both right now, thanks a lot! :p

Another good point that I forgot, you CAN'T take out the "clunkers" with Google!! Swiftkey easily let's you long press them into oblivion!! Can I vote more than once? Lol.

I use the Samsung keyboard on my Galaxy S4. I like the predictive text. What's the advantage of SwiftKey for those who prefer it? Is it just the predictive text or something else? I also use the Samsung keyboard on my Galaxy Tab S and it's even better than my phone!

It's main feature is it's AWESOME predictive text!! I have counted being able to chain together up to ten word sentences just with the prediction button! It also learns very quickly, the second time you type the same thing it's learnt!!

Doesn't seem to predict the difference between "it's" contraction and "its" possessive though...

;-)

I often find that as well, what I also like about SwiftKey is how it can predict whether to capitalise a word or not. I'll just chain together something like "English corner and coffee at Maan Coffee Bar tonight, 7:30pm, Xilin Square", and it knows to do "coffee" or "Coffee" depending on the context, without having to hit shift.

I'm much more of a "to/too" kind of guy myself, and Swiftkey pretty much nails it every time!! I'll give "its/it's" a try and get back to you, lol.

How have you been able to get it to differentiate which one to use? Swiftkey almost always puts "to" for me, even though the context obviously needs "too". Not sure if it's related, but for some reason, it also guesses a lot of foreign words that I have never heard of, let alone used. I only have the English US language downloaded, so any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I have found that the more you use it the more it knows when to use "to/too" I know what you mean though, when I first started using the keyboard "to" would come up as the main prediction, then "too," but since for what ever reason, lol, I tend to use "too" more, that's the main prediction now. As for the foreign words that come up, if you can give us a few examples maybe some of us that have been using the keyboard for a while can figure out what is going on.

I tried the Google keyboard all weekend and am back to SwiftKey (for the moment). It really is a tough choice right now because of the better accuracy when swiping on the Google keyboard vs the predictive text in SwiftKey. Dang you OP, I was perfectly happy before you started this thread [emoji53] [emoji14]

Should have put these both up before but I didn't think of it. Here are the links for the threads at XDA forums for the THEMED versions of both Swiftkey and Google so no matter which you prefer you can change the look. Just so we are all on the same page, these are THEMED versions of the OFFICIAL keyboard from the Play Store. They aren't "hacked" in any way at all, just skins for the OFFICIAL versions!! Show the devs some love, they have done a great job on these, with BOTH offering over 100 new themes!!

What about Fleksy? I just read something about that keyboard on another forum, supposedly it's good too. Anyone try it?

A lot of people like Fleksy so I tried it for about fifteen minutes and the next word prediction was terrible IMO so I uninstalled it. It would have to improve a heck of a lot for me to try it again for sure!!

One of my favourite things about SwiftKey that I don't think has been mentioned is you can make it "scan" your Facebook and G+ typing history so it knows all my slang words (very useful for a Scotsman) :thumbsupdroid:

Sorry, I haven't been texting much today (I'm an old guy) and don't have any examples yet. I did notice that both the icon and Application manager names say "SwiftKey Keyboard" and my version is 5.2.2.124. However when I'm typing, Select keyboard shows "Multiple Languages - SwiftKey Keyboard". Is that normal or could that be my problem with foreign words getting predicted?

Okay I just a couple weird predictions: hopefully predicted as hoek and problem predicted as pettibone.
