Swiftkey now free

I installed the update (already have the paid version) and it just locks up then force closes. Thank God for my Titanium Backup.
 
I've been using the Swype keyboard for years and always heard good things about Swiftkey so I tried to install it but, at 31.6MB, it's way too big. I couldn't even get it to install & work properly on my Optimus S, so I uninstalled it. Would it have trimmed itself down if I had gotten it to install properly?

At 31.6MB, Swiftkey would have been THE biggest app on my phone. That seems crazy for a keyboard.

I don't think so, if anything it would get bigger as you add words to your dictionary and the cache increases.

However, it has a fair few themes and some language packs pre installed, so you might be able to trim it down a little if you remove some of them?
 
Yep, got the paid version and the 10 free themes did not make me feel like I wasted money lol.

Anyway, to get the free themes, you just need to go to the theme packs section, and you will see the free premium pack on the top of the list.

Interestingly enough i just restored an old ti backup for swiftkey and updated again and the themes were there again to download. same thing, clicked the button and nothing. :D
 
Well, I decided to use SwiftKey again after switching over to Kii over a year ago. I guess all the hype just got to me. The reason I stopped before was that I kept making certain mistakes that SwiftKey does not correct. Those errors are accidentally pressing the space bar or accidentally pressing the shift key.

I put it back on and updated it yesterday. Funny how I haven't made those errors yet. Not sure why. It's not like the keyboard layout changed over the past year. Anyway, I'm going to stick to it for now and see how it goes over the next few days.

I did download the additional themes. I actually didn't like any of them. I'm currently using one of the original themes. Still, it's a nice gesture for them to allow previously paid users something. I'm certainly not upset for paying for SwiftKey way back and used it for 6 months, so I felt I got my money's word.
 
Anyone notice that up until today the "emoji" with predictions were in color and actually pretty well done, and today for some reason they are in black and white and look "stick figure" like????

Go figure this Clem, if I hit the emoji button within What's Up, they are indeed in color and "cartoonish" HOWEVER, if I hit the same emoji button within Yahoo Messenger the same emoji is in black and white and "stick figure" like. I have no idea why it would change but it totally does from Yahoo to What's Up using the emoji on the Swift Key keyboard and not native emojis:confused::confused: Not a BIG deal, but curious just the same!!

P.S. As long as I had the phone on I tested, and using the SAME Swift Key keyboard, ALL the emojis vary from Yahoo to What's up, how is that for a kicker!!!!!!!!
 
Odd indeed. Almost seems like a Yahoo thing, not a SK thing. I get the cartoons in Tapatalk and texts, can't try Yahoo for you, I only use it for a group and submit messages through email. Let's blame Yahoo even if it's not them!!

Works for me Clem, lol, it's clearly Yahoos fault!!!!:p:p
 
I updated Swiftkey, installed one of the skins I got as a paid user. The new number row is a nice feature. My keyboard takes up a lot of screen space now, though.

Change the keyboard size down 1 notch & see if it is usable.

Well, they may have been making much before, but this way they can still make money off those who already bought the app before. For example, the theme I am quite interested in didn't come with the free pack they gave to preexisting paid users. I still haven't pulled the trigger but considering it. If I do, that means they'll make more money from me than if they didn't go freemium. Plus they'll be able to attract more users who were off put by the rather steep price. After all, they were priced nearly 3x as much as Swype.
