Help Swipe keyboard?

I have swipe. How do I turn off the keybord? The reason I ask is that I lile the regular android keyboaed better. The onw that when you hold it landscape way there the spacebar in the middle and not off to the side. I purchased "better keyboard" didnt like it so I uninstalled it. Now the regular keyboard doesnt work soomeome please help

Long press a text area, select input method, then select android keyboard.
