You have to do a full wipe first.

Make a nandroid backup then either do an advanced restore and choose data or use appextractor and restore what you want from it. For apps though you should just reinstall from market so there are less errors...
sad i have over 100 apps

Well you can restore them using app extractor or restoring data from the advanced restore menu both of which use a nandroid backup, but you may have problems later or you may not. You can always try.
