Switch to total "stock" Android?

Hey, guys.

I have a HTC Legend running the stock HTC Sense UI under Android 2.2 Froyo.

My friend has a NexusOne (Lucky sod) and I was wondering if there is any way to install the same version of Android 2.2 that is on the NexusOne on my Legend. So that it looks the same as his OS and has the standard software that the Nexus has and just be rid of Sense once and for all...?

hi, I've got the Legend too.
You have two options:
Either, install a launcher like Launcher Pro or ADW. This will make it look like the Nexus (or however you want), but will will not replace the HTC apps.
Your second is to root the phone and flash a custom ROM (like Cyanogen). I don't recommend this if you don't know anything about it, it's not the quickest rooting process.
However, if you're going to learn, you have to learn somewhere right?
if you decide to take this option, I suggest this guide How To: Root the HTC Legend (Updated 12.13.10) | TheUnlockr
NOTE: this can brick your phone or muck it up in another way, you do so at your own risk.
(I've heard of few bricked Legends)

Wow fast response, thanks.
1 more question;

Launcher; does that slow down the device? Is it like running another process over the top of the already running android processes and use up memory?

Cheers pal.

I'm not entirely sure.
When I used launchers, Sense always seemed to stop, although that may just be me, but I think Sense stops running.
You should also note that you can't use HTC widgets with other launchers
