Root switched from clockwork to amon ra now stuck in boot loop

Using Rom manager I switched from Clockworkmod to Amon Ra 1.8.0. At least that's what rom manager indicates. But when selecting recovery from the bootloader screen I get stuck in a boot loop. I have reverted back to clockworkmod and it works fine but when trying to switch I get stuck.

Been researching this for several days but no luck in locating an answer. I found one thread which suggested using fastboot and then fastboot erase recovery but there is no 'erase recovery' on fastboot. So still stuck. Would appreciate some help.

Not sure if this information is necessary but -

tried flashing from terminal with no success. Should I try flashing a different rom or flashing a nandroid of older fresh? Currently running HBOOT version 0.76.2000 (PC3610000) - does NOT say 'eng'

fixed it but what a hassle. had to revert radio and fresh version but it may have been an update to clocworkmod that did it. can't tell. pita

now I'm faced with some somewhat different bootloader options.
For wipe:

  • Wipe ALL data/factory reset :: wipes /data + /cache + entire ext partition + all apps installed on your sdcard (froyo a2sd).
  • Wipe /data :: wipes /data.
  • Wipe /cache :: wipes /cache.
  • Wipe /sdcard/.android_secure :: wipes all apps installed on your sdcard (froyo a2sd).
  • Wipe /sd-ext :: wipes the entire ext partition on your sd (if present).
  • Wipe Dalvik-cache :: wipes the dalvik-cache located in /cache + /data + /sd-ext is present.
  • Wipe battery stats :: reset the battery calibration.
  • Wipe rotate settings :: reset the sensor calibration.

I assume I want to wipe data; wipe cache; wipe dalvik but NOT wipe all data.

in BackUp:

  • Nand backup :: Make a Nand backup (/sdcard/.android_secure included), the following partitions are NOT included :
    • Recovery (to avoid restoring old version)
    • Misc (no need to backup imo + restore issues on some phones)
    • Splash1+2 (no need to backup imo + restore issues on some phones)
  • Nand + ext backup :: Make a Nand + ext backup
  • Nand restore :: Restore a Nand backup
  • Backup Google proprietary system files :: Makes a backup of the Google proprietary system files in /cache/google
  • Restore Google proprietary system files :: Restores the Google proprietary system files from /cache/google

what does Google proprietary system files backup? Would it have radios or RSA keys?

1. You do not have to select wipe all if you don't want. Wiping data + caches will be fine.

2. Let me google that for you

3. No it does not have your radios or wimax keys. Your wimax keys will be located in your nand back-up as wimax.img
