Root switcher and rstore

switcher and restore only allow you to have read and write access once you're rooted .....you do not want to flash the switcher before you flash any rom. You will have no recovery and if anything goes wrong you wont be able to restore

Oddly enough I never ever used any switchers. My process was. Root>Flash TWRP>Flash SuperSU>Backup>Flash ROM CM12.1 RC6>Flash Gapps> profit.

Only reason I use switchers is when making changes to my system folder such as my ringtones boot animations etc so I can change permissions with root explorer.. not sure if you can change permissions with the file manager in twrp

u dnt need switchers for boot animations just boot into twrp go to mount , mount sytem .then go to advance then folders n u can move files around

Dont you have to change permissions on anything you move into the system folder?.. maybe a question for the twrp thread but can you change permissions with twrp?I've used the file manager in twrp but didnt see options to change permissions

The option to change permissions is there it just looks different. When you select a file or folder it will say chmod and you select this option and for rw-r--r-- you would chmod 0644 for rwxr-xr-x you would chmod 0755. The aroma file manager is another option you can just google the words "aroma file manager XDA" and it should be one of the first results. The aroma file manager is a zip you keep on your sd card and flash in recovery and it gives you an experience more like root explorer or root browser and it is overall much more user friendly than the file manager built into twrp. It has its own settings where you can change the theme and there is also an option for it to automatically mount all devices when you flash it so it will automatically mount system, data, cache, internal storage, and external SD. It creates a config file in the same folder as the zip so that your settings also persist between flashes. Honestly there are very few things that really require using switchers it is really just a matter of convenience.
