Help switching from 3g to 1x

I noticed sometimes my phone goes from 3g to 1x. i googled it and it seems that means its roaming or something. problem is when in 1x i cant go to internet. so under mobile settings i switched from cdma/evdo to evdo only. seemed ok, but now i notice that when i text or make call it switches to 1x but then switches right back to 3g.. this seems ok i guess. does anyone know if its ok to keep like this.. thanks

no it isnt o.k for 1. you receive and send calls and texts more slowly and 2. it gives you the illusion of saving battery when you send calls or text but in reality it takes more energy because the radios are switching on and off rapidly and it takes more energy to get the circuit going than it is to keep it going! (Newton's Laws!) <---- (cant believe i got to use one of his laws about a android phone!)

3. it causes wear and tear on the motherboard because when a circuit starts it starts off with an over charge to get it going, thus causing wear and tear on your circuitry and mother board ,because of the rapid heating during the switching on and it cools down again when your not using it, then it starts all over again causing accelerated wear and tear ,thus, decreasing the life of your phone:(

so it's doing more harm than good, by making your phone slower, and the electrical "Spikes" that are killing your phones battery ,and causing added wear and tear on the motherboard

Hope this Helps!

yes thank you for your response. i switched back. but is there a way to keep it from going to 1x. I would rather just have a bad 3g connection than a good 1x assuming thats why its switching on its own. thanks again!!

things you can try to go back to normal:
you can restore the original proxy servers by typing them back in, if you dont know them you can find them in the speed up 3g post

2.you can restore the phone to factory condition then re root but before you do that you can back up all your texts and other info using titanium back up or another back up app on android

Titanium Back Up Here:https://market.android.com/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup&hl=en (paid version)

or paid version free Here:Titanium Backup Pro ? root 4.2.1 - APKTOP

but however you are going to 1g sometimes because boost cant cover everywhere with 3g so you are inevitably going to hit some roaming 1g spots. check the coverage map for your area and see if it is infact a 1g spot because if it is it will be a logistical problem not your phone :P

what do you mean go back to normal? are you saying it is never supposed to go from 3g to 1x even if there is bad service. i thought i read somewhere that it does that when its roaming so how would i stop that....

let me explain more clearly.. my phone under the normal settings stays in 3g most of the time. but about 3 different times i noticed it switched to 1x. these times could have been in low service areas which is why i thought it did it.. my question is it supposed to do this or should it always stay in 3g.... thanks again

no its not always going to stay in 3g i said that i my last post i edited the post :P i wish these forums would let you kno if a post has been updated:mad:

and by going back to normall i thought you ment undo the 3g speed up you did

just reread your answer and seen you already answered my question.. sorry, and thanks.. I dont mind it going to 1x but it seems that when it does its slow to get back even if its back to a good area. i know this because when i switch to airplane mode and back it will go back to my 3g connection.. but i dont think its a problem with my phone prob just my ocd..lol.

its fine we make mistakes but it takes awhile because of the code that has to run and "warm up" time its normal! i promise!

I've noticed the switching to the 1x ever since changing proxy settings. This never used to happen to me, i live in a very small town where 3g is always accessible. So whether its the phone or proxy, we soon shall see. Going to revert the proxy settings, will give you all an update in a few days.

Honestly......the whole "speed up 3g" seems to be more harmful than helpful. My phone seems to be overheating now which is not good obviously so therefore I am restoring back to normal

Yeah thats what it seems to be doing but you can try the restore methods in my previous post if the ones you know arent working

BTW! KNOXVILLE 363! remember that freindly little p.m message you got on youtube that let you know about this site and root from Team MD0? That guy was me!

So how bout a shout out to Mr Freeze on your next vid!

U got it freeze......btw I restored my settings back and now the phone is not heating up like an oven

oh thats great! and btw the root by interdpth is not 100 % its only a partial root i explain why in my post about in the all things root forum here so you should let your viewers know that and could you post what you did to restore so other users who have done this can restore also:D

or was it one of my methods

and one more thing is it still going back 2 1g after you restored or is it always in 3g like stock?

Since I'm not completely familiar with how they're speeding up 3g, but I'm wondering if the code over clocks something, which in turn causes the overheating of 3g adapter?

The last cell/PDA I took apart (an old hp ipaq 5555 cell phone) left quite an impression on me in that due to the miniturization of everything (solder joints, circuits, traces and of course the motherboard) anything that could cause overheating, over and above normal operation and charging, could cause a hard failure sometime later on in life. Either through expansion and contraction of various stuff or a simple circuit failure.

Maybe when this thing dies I'll take it apart.

I might be wrong, but I think that is a common problem. I almost always have that issue with my current LG OpV (my 'Warp' is coming soon). Usually, it just depends on what area I'm in.

Forgot about your shoutout freeze so next video I will. Also to restore I just entered my msl # along w ##3282# and then I hit hit edit....and replaced the 0.0.0.0s that I edited in the first place back to the sprint ones that someone posted in the original how to speed up 3G thread
