Switching from iPhone to Inspire

Leave it empty delete all unnecessary apps no music no video no pics until u have to erase when selling

Good advice. I just need pandora and email, but otherwise that's all I'm reinstalling / setting up.

I remember being so excited to get this phone, but it's been a disappointing adventure since soon after I got it starting with the antenna issue.

I was lucky I didn't have those issues with mine. But yea keep it as empty as possible till sale

I truly want the Inspire 4G but the only thing bothering me is the 1GB of internal storage space left to install apps. I know apps are alot smaller in file size than iOS, but how many apps can we install before we get an out-of-storage space message?

Well this is not accurate the test units have had the wrong amount of space showing. The inspire will have 4Gb internal and 8Gb on a sd card for a total of 12

So what will the "retail" Inspires show on internal storage left over if it's not 1GB? I'm planning on getting a 16GB micro SDHC card for music, videos, wallpapers, etc.

Well I also have an iPhone 4 which is my current phone. I plan on keeping my iPhone 4 32GB and getting the Inspire to switch out between the two depending on what I feel like carrying. I'm looking forward to playing the Inspire and seeing what all I can do with it.

I'm beyond ready to get rid of the iPhone. iTunes is beyond a pain in my ass. I'd like to have a little bit more freedom with what I do and how I do it on my cell phone.

Goodbye, iPhone... you've served me well.

I hear people say how much they hate iTunes and at the same time I'm surprised there's not a better solution available from Google or even Microsoft. I would have thought that Google would have addressed this long before now. Frankly iTunes and the ease of managing my digital content is what has kept me from moving to another OS. In my opinion this is what Apple has done right and nobody else has addressed, which is the ease of use in sync'ing music, podcasts, movies, and TV shows. If Google, Nokia, Palm or Microsoft would have addressed this sooner they could have had more success.

I don't hate itunes but I much more preffer the cloud sync of android. If Google creates a cloud music like the rumored google music its game over. Tethered data transfer is so 1990 lol

I'm just tired of relying on Itunes for syncing my stuff to my phone. I've tried other software like media monkey, ephpod and a few different ones on linux but they all seem to be messed up with the iphone, nothing works 100%.

I know people who have itunes on more than one computer in their home and they have apple tv's and can't seem to get them all coordinated to work together. It's user friendly to a point, but they put too many restrictions on what you can do with it that irritates me.

It's my stuff, I paid for it, let me do what I want with it.

I'd love to see cloud syncing and never have to worry about backing up ever again.

With android its almost 100% there ;)

Agreed! My problem is, my digital library is over 900 GB's including over 12,000 songs. Finding a solution to manage a library of that size is not something i've found to date. I know Google can solve this problem but to date has not released it (rumored Google Music). What's making the switch easier for me is the latest version of programs like DoubleTwist.

Zune is the most amazing music software I have used. I happily give microsoft my $15/mo for unlimited music streaming/downloading. However, you can only sync zune devices to it, so i use to to listen and download music, and i use windows media player to sync to my SD card. They have a feature like genius from itunes called smart DJ that works amazingly.

the software is extremely smooth and fast

oh, best part,

it plays your music from itunes

The Zune software is bar none, the best media player around. I'll use Media Monkey for my mp3 tagging purposes. I had a Zune HD at one point but was difficult to carry around 2 devices all the time. But I still use, and love the Zune software.

I've used Zune software with my Samsung Focus, my problem is I use a MAC so unless I purchase all my music via my phone that's a non-starter. The other problem I have with it is the favoriate system it uses. I can only say I like something using 1 star. Having a music library of over 12,000 songs I have to be able to have finer tools for managing the songs I want to sync. In iTunes I have the ability to select anywhere from 0 to 5 stars and combined with Smart Playlists it allows me to manage which songs I want to sync.

I've been hoping Amazon would address this as they have the most to gain if they did but they again have failed to realized this and address it. For those that might question why Amazon has the most to gain consider this, the Amazon MP3 store is used on Android, Palm (HP) WebOS and Symbian OS's. So if they addressed this they could benefit from from additional sales from all of these platforms. If with the rumors of the Google Music store they are about to lose Android so they should have locked in those customers before Google addressed it.

Anyway just my opinion.

I'm making the iPhone to Inspire switch myself. I'm currently using a 2+ year old iPhone 3G which has seen better days. I actually like the iPhone, but I really want a change and look forward to having more customization options.

I was going to wait for the "iPhone 5" this summer, but I've decided to leap on the Inspire instead.

What does the power up time look like? My current iPhone 3G with 4.2.1 is so freaking slow it is frustrating to no end. I've timed it and it takes it a minute plus to even boot and that's with it only being somewhat functional. Stupid iOs 4, promising all those fun features and then only giving them to the iPhone 4 people... Apple, in my mind, is still on the right track with their computers, but they really screwed the pooch with their phone service/updates.

Just about the only things I like about my phone right now is that I can play pandora for a lot more than the 40 hour limit per month and it works so well with email. I'm hoping I can get about $150 for a perfect condition 3g on ebay. I've had a zagg screen protector and hard case the entire time ive owned it, so it looks brand new.

After initial start up its got fastboot. Which should boot in under 5 sec.

Im going to have both, really just adds 30 a month to my account with discount. I have quite a bit invested in itunes ( i know not a good move ) and also enjoy netflix and hulu plus which i have not seen on android as of yet. Just been waiting for a decent android phone to add to my att family plan and this one seems to be it.
