Android Question

Greetings,

So I have been an iPhone user since the 2G and given the recent chain of events I am done with it. Having to wait for a JB to come out in order to be able to fully use your phone is getting old on top of the fact there in reality (my opinion) there is no inovation from device to device. So I have been doing some reading and came across the Sony Xperia Z3. Its not out yet but it seems itll be released later this month?*. Anyways, reading on its specs it seems like a good move. Thoughts on it? or recommendations as to exhisting models or models that are due to come out? I am elegible for an upgrade as of now so this is a move I can do now should a good phone is available. Also, I am aware about "rotting" Androids; could anyone give me a crash course on it, overview if you may. I know most items are avaiable on the Google Play store as Ive been an admirer of many artists that contribute to the Android scene (kgill77, obeythe10 etc on DeviantArt). Any help I can get will be greatly appreciatted. Thank you.

regards,

M. Mercado

I'm not too familure with the Sony products, but in general I would look at the 'root'ableaty of any device you thougt would work for your needs.

I've rooted most devices I've come across, but it has been with the ground work done by true hackers. I know some devices have a locked boot loader. HTC is one, but they give you an out. Kyocera has a locked boot loader also, but I don't think it can be unlocked.

So in short, keep that in mind and happy hunting.

Xperia Z3 - According to this report T-Mobile is the only carrier that will be selling it in the US. Not sure about other countries.

The two main advantages of rooting a phone are being able to put a custom ROM on the phone and the ability to install apps that require root.

Two downsides - there is a small chance you can brick the phone, and if it's newer you will void the warranty.

The root process is different for every phone, so follow instructions for your specific device.
