Swype avail for Eris

When I enabled the swype keyboard, it was the default keyboard for everything on the phone that required a keyboard. When I re-calibrated, it was the swype keyboard.


This has nothing to do with swype expiration.
 
Search the net for a file called:

swype-hvga-1.56-htc_ime-en-licensed.apk

I loaded this and it works fine with 2.1.

Unfortunately everywhere I have looked, it has been taken down. I have PM'd some people to maybe get it.

It is just something fun to try I guess.
 
I got it back by going to the website and signing up for the beta... hasn't expired yet...
 
Just googled for it and found it in about 10 seconds on rapidshare. havent been using swype for awhile (basically since it kept expiring on me), but glad to have it back. Hopefully this signed copy wont expire.

Shapewriter used to be available free in the market and I felt it was pretty darn close to Swype. I really liked it. Not sure why it was removed.

But it's still out there if you google it. Try Shapewriter HVGA.

Mods, sorry if this is not ok. I haven't heard of Shapewriter being in the same position as Swype about downloading... especially since it used to be free in the Market. Just delete if not ok.

FYI: Those of you posting how to get Swype... Mods have expressed that this is not ok since Swype does not want this floating around the internet unless you're using their official beta version. Just read back through this thread.
 
LOL. I've caught on pretty quickly over at the X forums myself. But ur right we'll always come back here and check up on how things are going with the Eris :)
 
please help i have the same problem swyping works but no words show in text box.. really want to get this working
 
Read (somewhat quickly) through entire thread. Downloaded what I found to be the "most recent" version. Double checked installation steps and rebooted phone. I am still getting the "trial period has ended. upgrade your copy" message. Any suggestions?
 
I had the official beta. I had to do a hard factory reset on my phone due to some crazy weird memory issues. Had the swype installer saved on my sd card, and tried to reinstall the swype keyboard, and its telling me that my phone doesnt match my registration. Any ideas on how I can get my official beta back? If not, whats the best alternate keyboard out there?
 
The best alternate for Swype IMO is probably SlideIT. It's pricey but functionally it's as good as Swype. My biggest complaint with Swype is the constant beta/expirations. We all know it works, they just need to release it.:mad:
 
I have no idea why it would lock you out for a variation on your phone. I have successfully reinstalled mine many times, every time I load a new ROM. IIRC one ROM I tried had identified my phone as a Nexus One, ans Swype even ran fine on that. I have heard that they will help you get going again so long as you can prove to them that you are you.

AMEN! its about time already. I may just ween myself off of it and get back to the stock key board just to spite the f***s.

Watch they get us all addicted and want to charge like boku dollars. its a conspiracy I tell ya, or at least an absurdity. Really makes me question the companies descision making skills. :cool:
 
why dont swype come out on the market it is really annoying that they keep having betas out and expiring. they all seem to work good in my case but why the expiration, just load one up in the market and update it its not that hard.
Venting felt great.
