Root Swype (beta) keyboard randomly does not open.

This is the most aggravating, enfuriating thing. I've been running the Swype beta keyboard, and have gone back to the standard Swype keyboard a few times since first experiencing this issue, but at random the keyboard simply will not appear when the cursor is in the ready state for entry. (i.e. when opening a text message, when attempting to enter a URL in a web browser, passwords, etc.) What is twice as frustrating here is that when this happens, I can't even use Dragon for speech recognition because the access button to it is in the damn keyboard.

I am running the latest ROM #2, and while it seems to be fast enough with it, it hasn't stopped my Esteem from having this problem--had it before with Broken Out ROM (which I REALLY liked, in fact the only reason I switched to #2 was because I wanted to see if it would cure this problem), Gingersteem, and a couple others that I can't remember. The interface also seems to just freeze randomly. I've also attempted wiping dalvik cache and repairing permissions in recovery, nothing has helped. Everybody says that ROM #2 made their Esteem feel like a brand new phone, and it has helped a lot, but I am beginning to think that this is just what I am going to have to deal with for as long as I use this phone with its single processor, no matter what overclock or not I use. Is there any fix for this, anybody got a hint to toss me, or should I just drop 200 bones and go for the Spirit already?

If you have the funds to upgrade to the Spirit 4G, then I'd say go for it. It's a much better phone that you'll enjoy a lot more, especially coming from an esteem. It has been recently rooted and has a working recovery.

Hello hey how u doing welcome to the forums . I see u having a problem with your swift keyboard i did have the same problem 3 ways to repair this problem . 1St is make sure this app isn't on your sd card in any way . Second is give the phone a little power with the app called set cpu . If this doesn't help u can change to a speed kernel of your choice . But now i see u having this problem with the number 2.7 . And see u new to the forums and may i ask have you rooted a phone before

Wow. Well. Uh. Yeah, posting in the root forum, with the latest ROM #2, yes, I've been good and rooted for quite some time now.

Anyway, I've solved my keyboard-not-appearing issue with a Swype update. I tried checking for an update and one was there, which would never download for reasons unknown. So I turned off Swype--and noticed that the LG Keyboard always popped up immediately, and the phone was A LOT faster. Unfortunately I just can't live without Swype at this point so I reinstalled it and it managed to download the update this time. Since reinstalling Swype the phone is less responsive again, but nowhere near as bad as it was before, and the keyboard actually shows up, rather than every once in a while when it feels like letting me type something. I believe that the CPU is not overclocking, however, as each time I look at it in ROM Toolbox Pro it is still at 1024. I have the unleashed kernel linked from the #2 thread, so it should definitely be overclocking, but I remember seeing this issue about overclocks not sticking somewhere a long time ago, just never been affected til now. So I'm off to search for that fix now.
