Help Swype & custom dictionaries

OxyMaroon

Lurker
Hello,

I like the Swype keyboard and functionality quite a bit and prefer it over the Samsung keyboard. Unfortunately, no Swype dictionary exists for my maternal language. I wouldn't mind creating my own custom dictionary, however Swype forces you to have at least one of the existing languages selected. This means that I always get a gazillion nonsensical recommendations in a different language that I don't use in my messages.

So, here's my question: does anybody know if it is possible to add an additional language with a blank dictionary file on the S2 (and if so, what would be the correct location for the file)? Also, does the phone have to be rooted for this modification? Alternatively, is it possible to delete all words from one of the preinstalled dictionaries to abuse

Thanks in advance for any help!

PS: I will also crosspost this message on forum.swype.com since I realize that this could be considered more of a Swype question. Nevertheless, there is an SGS2 component to it :)

when in swype mode, if you TYPE in a word then press the space, it will automatically add to its dictionary, so it will remember all your own words automatically.

Hi, thanks for responding. I might have to clarify my question a little bit though: I am well aware on how to add my own words to the dictionary. What I am looking for is a way of getting rid of all of the other words in the dictionary (because they are in the wrong language), so that Swype will only select from the words that I have entered myself.

Regards,
