Help Swype disabled stock android keyboard

I got the message today that I needed to upgrade my Swype keyboard. After the installer failed to upgrade my Swype keyboard, I decided to manually uninstall it. After doing so, the stock android keyboard that came with the phone would not appear. After going through the setting screen, there was no keyboard present to select from! I had lost my ability to enter any data! I ended up installing a very old version of Swype from the .apk file I had on my SD card. Then I downloaded the GO keyboard, again uninstalled the Swype application and was able to use the GO keyboard to upgrade my Swype. However, the stock android keyboard that came with my HTC Incredible 2 is gone. Just like the desktop clock that came with it (this happened months ago). Has anyone else experienced this?

In the worst case you should do a factory reset.

I have just installed Swype Beta on my brand ne Dinc2 and seems OK. I can select the normal keyboard (long press the edit field.)

Are you rooted? Also, are you looking for it in settings>language and keyboard>touch input settings. Make sure nothing is set that would cause it to not work. The stock keyboard on this phone does not show up in the list of available keyboards like Swype does.
