Swype for android leaked!

This may be too obvious, but did you go into Setting - Language & keyboard and put a check mark by Swype?

When you long press an input area, do you get the option to select an input method?

Obvious, YES
Did I do it, NO
LMAO - I just needed the check mark in settings.

Thanks bud

I've been trying Swype for a couple of days now but unless I can find a way to bring up the microphone to dictate (speech to text) some messages I'm afraid I'm going to have to dump it. Really like the app in general but I hate giving up that microphone.

Is there another way to quickly bring up the speech to text that I'm missing?

Thanks

I am missing this badly as well.
It's not too bad to switch, but defeats the purpose of driving and just pressing the button to dictate, if you have to long press, select, then pull up the KB again.

I wonder if there is a way that they could add that on, I would pay a couple bucks for that luxury.

While swype us fun and pretty efficient, after weeks of use, gotta say I am still noticeably faster and more efficient on stock. Found myself on swype spelling out long words as you really cannot type Shorthanded or abbreviated words. Speed on swype u felt was UN relation to auto spacing between words. That said, it is fun to use and a cool novelty, just slightly to moderately slower than stock, for those that can type over 60words per minute.

I also would gladly pay for Swype if it were in the app store.

I'm afraid that having no mic will be a big issue for a lot of people. Don't forget, Swype seems to be pretty popular, despite requiring 2 hands to use properly.

Gotta admit that I just don't see how I can use this regularly, especially while driving, given how often I use the speech to text feature.

Get a Bracketron mount.

Micro Center - Universal Dock-iT (not just available here; this happens to be where I got mine)

For $20, it mounts on the air vents in your car, at the perfect height to see the GPS, and allows you to dial, input text for searching, plug in the charger, etc.

I've had one for 3 years and it's absolute gold.

youguys use your finger or thumb for speed?

Actually both. I've tried holding the Droid in my right hand and using my right thumb to "write," but that's just for short short short notes or replies. I'm not all that accurate with my thumb.

Mostly it's my right index finger, while holding the Droid in my left hand. That works great.

My Droid car mount extends to about an inch shy of where my vent is. I have a vent mount, and don't trust the Droid in it since it is so heavy.
I can type "relatively" easy, still have to lean a bit, and the mount is very solid - but the mic is super importante.

BTW - the moto mount has the magnet, and if you look on amazon it comes with the quick charger for the car for $30, that's a no brainer if you at least need a charger IMHO.

Just downloaded, did the tutorial and sent about a dozen texts to get the hang of it. Wow! Very fast and intuitive! Very cool app.

Anyone have a problem with the camera button operation after they downloaded Swype?

The camera button on the right now opens Swype instead of operating the camera!

Anyone have a fix for that?

Wow... that's sure not happening on my Droid. That would seem to say that whatever is triggered when you hit that button is looking for some sort of user input. So maybe something in your phone else re-mapped that key?
