Help Swype Issue

I've had the Swype beta (obtained directly from the swype site) installed for a few weeks on my (non-rooted) Incredible. I'm having an issue where it'll only work occasionally.

It's installed, registered and enabled. When I go to a text screen and long press to bring up the input method 'Swype' is selected. The swype keyboard is showing, and when I swype around I get the blue trail, but no text gets entered. I can tap out the letters just fine.

There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason to why it works every once in a while. In attempting to trouble shoot, I've rebooted to no avail. I've reinstalled at least four times. The first time I reinstalled Swype did begin working for a very short time, but I believe that was just a fluke, as each successive time I've tried reinstalling it's done nothing. Just today I was texting and annoyed with swype not working. I was ready to go though trouble shooting again when it inexplicably began working. The joy was short lived, as a few hours later swype stopped allowing me to swype text.

Has anyone else had this type of issue? I searched and couldn't turn up a thread. I LOVE using swype when it works, which unfortunately isn't very often.

Ok, so screwing around with going back and forth between swype and the stock keyboard I just got a message to up up for the first time.

"The swype package you installed is configured for another device and will operate with limited functionality."

I did see something in one of threads in my search about some people having a different version for the droid incredible. Does anyone know how to obtain a working version for the Incredible?

Well, I uninstalled, had the swype beta resent and then reinstalled the package and it's now working. For how long, who knows?
If I keep having the failure issues I'll check back in here and share my info.
