Swype now available for all!

Thanks, OP, for the post. BTW, ever since installing the beta, Swype has downloaded multiple times without any action on my part. Are the devs pushing updates to the beta?

I can't seem to switch to Swype keyboard in the setting. Where is that?

First you need to enable it under Settings -> Language & Keyboard...then you should open your messaging app (Stock, Chomp or Handcent) and long press in the txt box and select Input Method and choose Swype.

Process worked perfectly for me, working like a charm on Rooted Slcd Incredible running Redemptive Revolution 2.13/HIL#4 Kernal.

Perfect, my unregistered beta expired at midnight last night, big props to OP and other folks with help for others.;)

It seems a little ridiculous to me... What's the point of all these beta games?

They don't like to make money. I gladly pay all my developers for apps I use and would have gladly paid 5 or 10 bucks US since the inception of Swype.

Instead I have been using pirated versions since day one on 6 different Android devices over that time.

Nothing more than a bad business decision that has cost them dollars-bottom line.

I had this same problem! I was able to fix this.

Open your internet browser and select menu,
Then select more,
Then select settings,
Check the box that says mobile view,
Enable mobile versions of web pages.

"They" probably "think" you're opening the email from a computer
This should fix this.

Worked like a charm. Thanks

The swype function on this release does not work after a reboot. I have to reinstall after every boot. I just installed the pirated version. It works much better.

F.Y.I.

It is a known issue that rebooting can cause Swype to "lockup" or "die". The best advice I can offer anyone is that if you intend to reboot, simply disable Swype under Language & Keyboard, then reboot and re-enable it.

Does anybody else have any concerns for this app being from outside the market place, and how much access swype has to your phone?

no swype has been around awhile and is a legit program. It is a keyboard, and has access to stuff it needs.
anyways just installed as i missed the first beta and i am loving it so far, seems my phone has slowed down a bit now that i have it on. I also have the gingerbread keyboard installed from droid-life.

I just downloaded and installed the beta version of swype for my droid incredible. And i keep getting an error message that says "swype is configured for another device and will have limited functionality" and it wont let me swype i have to tap to text. Any idea what might be wrong? Thanks in advance.

What exactly are you expecting from the market? Regardless where you get your apps from, before you install it you're still prompted to verify the security measures in place. It's not like the Android Market has any form of Quality Control to protect you from malicious apps.

I am having the same problem. I can use it after a re-boot or as a regular keyboard, but now it's just not working. I try to swype a word and a blue box flashes. Even easy words like Hi or Hello don't work. This needs fixing....

I got my email, but when I click on it and go to the site, it says i'm not on an android phone. I'm on my incredible, and its not rooted.

any suggestions??

Do you have any components of Swype on your phone? Any installers or maybe a shady copy?

If not, try a reboot and then go to the mail and try again.

Go to the stock browser, hit menu, settings and make sure "mobile view" is selected. Then try again to download swype....

This app seems to be from a trusted source, but there seemed to be an awful lot of permissions to be granted just to be able to input text in a different format. Being able to see your typed input history seems a bit Big Brother to me.

I must've been really tired when I wrote that (as even now I barely remember making that reply) so it doesn't read exactly quite the way I meant it to come across. I was more intending to comment that the android market doesn't ensure the safety of apps any more so than outside vendors do.

That being said... sometimes you just have to decide whether you trust the source. Any 3rd party keyboard is going to have access to your typed input history, as that's the nature of the keyboard itself. :)
