Help Swype on HTC Desire HD

Has anyone got this to work yet?

I installed it yesterday but I can't seem to get it working. I can change all the options etc. but when a keyboard comes up it's the normal one and there is no option to change to swype.

EDIT: I Installed this version: Swype_1.60.36.8214.apk
 
Works fine on the DHD.

Make sure that Swype is selected in Keyboard Settings on the main settings menu and then go in to text messages, select new text message and then hold your finger down on the area where you write the text, release it after a second or so and select Input Method. Click Swype and you're done.

You could look for newer version on Internet as v2.4.44.10912 for android is available.

Does the latest version have cursor keys? The version I'm using doesn't and its a problem without a trackball.
 
Excellent tip for Swype thanks, but how do you get out of the cursor screen? The only way I have found is by pressing down to get to the end of text or tapping in the text dialog. Both of which defeat the point of using the cursor to get to the place I need to edit.

I dunno. Admittedly I haven't done the Swype tutorial since the first time I used it back in January or so, but I don't recall that being a part of it.
 
At the moment the only way, other than buying a phone with it built in, is to get into the beta.

You can sign up to be notified when the beta reopens, but I get the impression the beta isn't going to be running for too much longer. Then you can just buy it :)
 
Hi! I have just bought the HTC Desire HD in the UK, and I cannot figure out which version to download from the internet for Swype. Where do I download it from? And what device do I select? On the Brothersoft website they do not offer HTC Desire HD as an option.
 
I installed Swype on my HTC Desire HD. I managed to select the Swype keyboard for input, but though it shows the trace, no word actually gets inputted when I start composing a message.
Any ideas?

As I said above, the only way you can get Swype is to join the beta here. Downloading it from anywhere else is piracy and so discussing where to find it is against the forum rules.

The copy you downloaded found is an expired beta version, which is why it no longer works.

I have an official version from being a tester, and I had the same problem. After selecting Swype I could type, but not swype, but I figured it out. With Swype as the selected keyboard, press and hold until you can select input method, and then select the default keyboard. Then do the samething again to re-select Swype, and it should work. It did for me as I can now swype all day long.
