Help SWYPE on the EVO?

Ok, I'm a newbee here.
Where the heck do I download swype for the EVO????
I checked the market on the phone and even the app download on this site and can't find it anywhere.

Anyone??

Swype is a closed beta not that's not available yet. Keep checking their website to see if they open up to more testers.

I dont see it in market and is there a way for me to get it? If there is an apk can someone tell me quick on how to install that on phone and what steps I need to take. Thanks...

Different versions are floating around but you really want to be a tester. I just got my update and it's getting better and better. Now it has mic button, accuracy fixes, live update. Fastest got faster!

I'm on the beta list for them and i received their new file last week. Problem is when they shut all their beta's down not too long ago i switched to shapewriter. I've used it for the past couple of months and i love it. I like that you don't have to do the stupid loop over double letters. When i got the email with the new swype apk i downloaded it and installed it and it took me 1 minute to delete it and stick to shapewriter.

Android Forums does not support posting of any information related to the exchange of copyrighted software - strictly speaking, if you engage in apk sharing of one, that's illegal, and we can have no part in that.

Swype from time to time re-opens their beta program, and does distribute properly - see:

If there are questions on this no-copy-apk for anyone, feel free to PM me.

I received an email from swype saying that I'm now in the Beta program but sadly after all the waiting (was using ripped apks before), I don't exactly need it. Epic comes with it pre-installed :P

i am not that impressed with swype. i use a zagg screen protector because i love the rubbery feel of the zagg. Swype can not be skinned like better keyboard can. So i think swype still needs some work done to make it more customizable since the whole point of android is to customize the ape sh!t out of it. Plus its like 10.8 megabytes in size! come on the thing is too bloated. I say move it to the storage cards. I am on a quest now to only use apps and all that install to the sd cards.

I was in the initial Swype beta, and just got the update loaded...love it! It's not perfect, but it's a huge step up from the stock keyboard, though I wish it had directional arrows.

If you start at the sywpe key and slideover to the SYM key next to it a keyboard with directional arrows will pop up, also with text edit commands.

I got the email from Swype I could participate in more beta testing. I didn't like Swype initially because symbols were difficult to navigate.

I downloaded the latest version and can say it's MUCH better. It's my new current favorite.

So is it also safe to assume this "present" will also patch any root-ability from Unrevoked? I just got this Evo about 20 days ago and the version is to new to Unrevoke, but I figure that team is working on it, now with this new update I fear it will push a root even further out of reach.

The trick is, if you're rooted already, accept no OTA updates - look for their root equivalent at xda forums - presuming you're using the stock rooted rom.

In that case, the page you want to keep an eye is -

HTC Supersonic/ROMs - XDA-Developers

~~~~
And - even though we don't know yet, you're likely to be right - every new iteration does have the tendency to require finding a new root exploit. Check the All Things Root Evo subforum - one of the guys that keeps closer watch on root issues is liable to update this info there, first.
Ok since I got the new update today for my evo, I am starting to dig the new way I can txt or use the keyboard in general with swype. I kind dig this new way to type it is so much faster.
And if your drunk, its perfect you don't have to be exact! LOL :p
swype is fun, type out 'banana' on it, hahaha
at times i like swype...if i'm typing "wordy" responses or on forums swype works great. but for a quick 2-3 word message a regular keyboard is better.
swype was awesome on my Touch Diamond since it only had a 2.8" screen..but with this ginormous screen the Evo has, its not as necessary imo.
Honestly, I think it's overrated considerably. I can " peck " most words in 2 seconds and some in shorter time. For me it makes things slower or keeps it at the same speed. It's awesome technology... for lazy people (meant lightheartedly, so don't be offended).
What version is that swype? Does it have the Mic key?
Can't figure out what version (I read elsewhere that it's an older version than the beta) but it does still have the Mic. I did not use the beta version I had because of no mic, but since it's had one I love it. So much easier for me to text once I got used to how easy it is to use.
