Help Swype Type for Moment

ok heres how to instal it go to the app market download astro file manager then connect your phone to pc open up the memory find the astro folder inside there are folders put the apk inside one of the folders disconnect your phone open up astro on phone find the folder you put the apk into then touch it to install it.once installed you need to go into the menu go to locale and text you should see swipe make it the default do the swipe settings close out and your done..if this helps hit the thanks button......

Also, after enabling swype in locale and text...remember to disable your android keyboard. With them both enabled, only the android keyboard will work.

Or just download/install Astro file or any other app installer, download the apk from the link provided, then just press the apk downloaded and the option to install will appear. No need to hook up or disconnect your phone. The apk or any file you download is automatically saved in your Downloads folder on the SD card. Then follow the steps above. :D

thats if you download it on your phone. i had a problem downloading it that way and had to dl on my laptop.

Another alternative is SlideIT Keyboard Lite. Basically the same as Swype but I find it faster, and it's available right from the marketplace.

I didn't have to download astro nor hook up my phone to my pc. All I did was download the file onto my phone and check it under the locale & text section in the settings menu. Works great. Got used to it after a couple of text. My only question is this... It said it may remember or record passwords and things of that nature. How safe is this to use? For the time being I will not be using this method to type in any personal information.

Each time you switch from the stock keyboard they put up that banner as a warning. Odds are they are not collecting anything. All apps you download have a chance of collecting personal info, have you ever noticed that some of the apps you download require a lot of access even though they dont really require that much info.

is this thing gonna create the same tombstone problem that some ppl had with the htc keyboard?

I have. The only thing that made me hesitate for a moment was that banner.

hey everyone, I just thought i'd chime in with my two cents. I was vigorously searching for Swype for my phone after I saw the commercial last week, and none of them worked correctly after install. I eventually found one, but I don't remember if its "final" or not. I know the version number is higher than this one (1.25.16.5612) and the filename is "Swype_MTG_G1_v1". Its virtually the same as this one, but I prefer it over this one because you have the option of vibrate on keypress. The only differences I see in these two versions are subtle, like the vibrate on keypresss, which I love, and a bluish word suggestion list instead of the yellow/tannish one. If anyone is interested I can find the link again an post it, or you can search for yourself, or I can just find a way to upload it. Let me know, I'm just trying to help out my fellow Momenteers.

MY GF has the moto cliq xt and it has a awesome version of swype i wanna figure out how to extract it. It looks like the Hero keyboard and it much more accurate then most of the versions floating around the internet

OK, I just installed it, at it was very easy. The directions provided above are right on the money. Haven't played with it yet though. I figured I would give it a try since I never use the virtual keyboard. Maybe I will now.

slideit lite i believe is the app you are looking for it has the htc keyboard.

Correct. The site I got that info from said it would be available from both the market and the swype site. Guess they were half right. I just downloaded out and typed this using swype.

my beta says it expired, it is the one from sdx also, I thought that was good forever, i downloaded shapewriter from the market, so far I see no big difference from swype
