Hi, I downloaded swype from somewhere or other, but now I'm told the trial version is over? And I can no longer use it. I can't find it anywhere, any ideas? Is even pay for it but can't find anything at all.
Thanks

Blimey. A can of worms I've opened! This is a real biatch. Once you have swype there can't be any going back to anything else. It's a way of life! More important than anything else in my phone! I've registered for a new version. Hopefully ill get the invite soon!

I signed up about a week ago, and got notification today. Pretty cool app! Takes some getting used to because it completely changes the way you input everything, but it seems accurate and fast.

I agree it does take some getting used to but it is very cool.I will give it a week or so to see if i get used to it.

jus signed up!
i think they have just reopened beta as i tried yesterday and it was closed so
get in there whilst you can.

how is swype for typing slang/txt words like 'wiv' 'nah' 'tkts' etc?

Just add those words into the dictionary.

Yes, for those who have been wondering how to get a legit copy of Swype for your phone, Swype seems to have a new Beta version 7625, and are opening it up to more Beta testers again. So, just go to their website
Swype | Text Input for Screens
and sign up. You should get an e-mail reply within a day with a link to how to install it.

It really is great. Watch the tutorials, and the tips and tricks. Don't know I managed typing without it.

It is especially great for long words. Handles words with apostrophes very well. You can also very easily make it learn new words, so slangs aren't a problem. You can even make it learn words made of letters, numbers and symbols (eg android123@android.com).

It works well on the Desire, although the "double-tap" trick to correct words only seems to work in landscape mode. Also, the Beta seems to have a US English dictionary, although you can put in your own proper English ;) spellings easily (eg colour instead of color)...

Oh, and it was created by the same chap that created T9 predictive texts.

And the iphone doesn't have it!!! Something about Apple not liking tweaks to their OS......

Here goes - using Swype to write this. It's weird!

I think my keyboard needs recalibrating.

I like the fact that you don't get forced to use it as the keyboard is still available for conventional tapping.

Definitely getting faster the more I use it. I will be persevering!

Ian

PS It even worked with my name!

Works much better in landscape mode.

I got the email today, so am happy again. Hopefully won't have to go through this ball ache again. For anyone not yet tried it you must give it a go, seriously its great. Coming from an iphone 3gs, I thought the keyboard on the desire was pants, all off them. Even htc_ime was not that good. But once you've got used to swype there seriously isn't any going back. Give it a couple of days, do the tutorial so you know what your doing and its excellent. Swype the information key over the symbol key to bring up a directional key pad to move the cursor around.

I just logged on to their website and signed up after reading this post and got the notification immediately. Looks really cool. Thanks.

thankxx. I just registered in the site and got the reply almost immediately. it shows up in the site that this beta version might be active for only matter of days. will give it a try.
for uninstalling it incase I dont get the hang of it- the normal uninstall process rite??

I wish there's an option that disables auto saving typed words that are not yet on swype's dictionary, I don't want my passwords to appear on the swype's word suggestions screen...

Oh that will take some getting used to, seems good though, was always interested in it after I seen a trailer before I got the phone, could never find it.

Cheers for pointing it out.

signed up and got email...clicked on link which went to pagesaying "sorry you are not an android phone!" anyone else had this?

Not so sure I am a big fan of this. Don't get me wrong, it's very cool and seems to work very well, I just find it a bit awkward.

I've just downloaded and installed this but i can't get it working. Under language and keyboard Swype is ticked, but whenever I go to enter text it's just the old fashioned input method that works. Tried a reboot but still nothing.

Any ideas?
