Swype

I had a question about swype, I use swype as my keyboard and last night I registered for their beta. When I went to uninstall old version of swype it wouldnt let me do it in a manor I would uninstall a normal app. My question, is swype software that motorla put on the atrix and the only way to get rid of it is to root? Thank you for any suggestions and replies.

Yes, the Swype that's on your phone is a system app (yeah really sucks) so only way to uninstall it is through root
