Swyped...

Everyday I have a problem with swype n have to uninstall and install it. So now it won't install at all, I'm done with swype, giving slideit a chance.

SlideIT is alright. I miss swype. But I didn't realize the company wanted their product locked down so much. SlideIT got my money since they actually want to sell it.

You're upset because your pirated software has expired? A bit nervy, don't you think?

What stinks is that this software is appearing OEM on new devices so there is a version that is currently stable and they won't sell it to us. I'm sure there are lots of folks who would gladly pay for this app.....including me.

I'm sure glad I know how to use Google....hint....hint...

Could not agree more, been using SWYPE for almost a year now, first on the Eris and now on my Dinc. Can't believe they won't sell it. Going to SlideIt or something similar soon.

A lot of folks, including myself, are having the issue where each time you reboot your phone Swype won't swype. You have to long press a text field, select the default keyboard, long press again, abd reselect Swype to get it to work. I have the newest beta release.

I am also one of those folks.

you know how i dealt with this problem? i went to swypeinc.com when swype beta was still in like 1.16 or something and i signed up to be part of the closed beta. then after waiting like 6 months i was invited. Along with everyone who signed up before the 1.56 release. Now i get to lol whenever i get an email saying theres an updated beta. I know a few days later there will be a bunch of people here bitching.... lol.

I just purchased Ultra Keyboard, and so far, so good. Totally customizable.

I've been using ShapeWriter user since I got my phone. I kept trying to use Swype but just got frustrated.

After reading this thread I installed the Ultra Keyboard Demo. I bought it maybe 10 minutes later.

Ultra is the best keyboard I've tried so far and I've tried a ton of them.

x10...the Tracing options works just like Swype and it's more customizable! Just download Ultra Keyboard and you'll be good!

lol, me too :)

It only took like a month to get the invite for me though

ok..just trying ultra kb. how come i have two letters for each box. how do i get this in normal qwerty keyboard?

edit: nm..found it. let me try this out for a couple of days.

can we customize the color of the trace? i can't seem to find it.

I REALLY like Ultra Keyboard. But, the text on the keys are way too small. It hurts my eyes when using it. Is there any way to make the text larger? I even looked in the theme creator and didn't see a setting for it. While it is an awesome keyboard, the fact that the text on the keys are so small is a deal breaker for me. The Swype keyboard is much easier to read.

Are there any available themes in the Marketplace for Ultra Keyboard that have larger text? If so, what are the names?

For what it is worth, I have tried all three of these swype style keyboards and have found Swype to be the most accurate. But I can still imagine the frustration with not being a beta tester and have no options. At least there are options unlike the unrooted iPhone.

Dumped SWYPE today after using it for a year. I'm tired of chasing betas, links, and changes.
UltraKeyboard does it all. It's customizable, does themes (lots available in the market) or make your own, cost is minimal.
Bottom Line: SWYPE is after the big bucks, UltraKeyboard is as good or better and we can support the Dev.
Thanks for a great product!

yeah..i was having problems with key size too. you can change only the key height which kind'a helps. i wish you can set the width too.
