Help syc software and keypad options

I just loaded up the HTC sync program and I'm receiving an error message when launching. The error message is a small square window with a ! up top in a yellow triangle with an OK button underneath.

I'm also setting up one of my email accounts and I need to place a \ into the user name. I can't seem to find that symbol anywhere.

Any input would be really appreciated.

I just figured out where the \ is. The sync program is driving me nuts as I need it desperately to sync with Outlook.

FYI i did get this to work so it does work.
i installed it at work on an xp machine.
it didnt work on my windows 7 machine though....

I can't get the Sync software to work on my windows 7 machine either. New OS HTC just dosent have it updated yet.
