Help Sync and Disk drive

Hi

Had my XE for about a week now and for no reason at all my pc wont recognise the phone. Tried rebooting both, also reinstalling HTC sync. Removing mini sd card and restarting. Tried 2 different phone leads, one from existing HTC desire, new one supplied with phone. Both recognize that the phone is plugged in because its charging the phone.
When I first got the phone and plugged it in to lappy i got a drop down bar on phone, now I get nothing, so i go to connect to media and change it to disk drive and still nothing happens. I then try and run HTC sync and it says no phone connected.....Im at a loss as to what has happened in 2 days.......

Any help will be much appreciated

Just plugged my old desire in and worked all ok....disk drive and HTC sync......so that rules out cables and usb and lappy.......AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH

I had a similar problem tonight. I was convinced it was the phone and tried to change loads of settings on the phone. I then realised it must be my cable. I was using a different cable and not the one that came with my phone. I switched cables and sure enough, when I opened the notifications bar, the menu was there for me to use the phone as a disk drive.

Even the other cable had charging symbol on. To me the cables look the same but there must be some difference.

I see you've already tried the cable that came with the phone. Not sure what else could be wrong.

something else I've noticed tonight.when I take the lead our of either the phone or lappy the icon stays on the top right hand side of my phone.....takes me a while to get rid of it.....only thing I can think of is a format....but I will loose a lot of stuff
