Help Sync experiencing problems

I can't sync my hotmail email account.

I keep getting this error message:

Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly.

Here's a screenshot (notice the error at bottom):

I've deleted the hotmail account twice, and setup again. Same error.

I've deleted contact data. Same error.

I've restarted the phone several times. Same error.

Anybody have any ideas?

EDIT: It was working prior to this. I only picked up this replacement phone 12 hours ago after returning as an ELF due to similar issues. All accounts were synced and worked for 11 hours, now this.

Seriously regretting going android, I think. Never had these problems with my 4S.

It sounds like the best workaround so far is to download and use the Hotmail application available on the market. Here is some further reading on the hotmail problem:

Okay, but the OP had exactly the same issue as me.

Actually, none of those links relate to my specific problem except the last one that I posted in that you deleted my posts from.

Had the same message on my moto g phone. It was caused by me disabling some apps in an attempt to prevent pop up adverts. Problem not noticed until much later when I realised Google Calendar sync had stopped. Everything else was working fine, including syncs.
Check for anything in your disabled apps list and re-enable them.
