sync gmail contacts to hero

all i want to do is pull my gmail contacts down to my phone. just exported them from exchange to gmail. want to use gmail instead of outlook sync. whats the deal, i cant get my gmail contacts over! i deleted my outlook profiles on my phone.

any ideas? ive searched and searched....

People->Menu->View-> and select "contact source" as Google. If you aren't seeing any contacts under Google source then Go to Settings->Data Synchronization->Google and Sync contacts manually.

My contacts wont sync from google to my phone in this way, it comes up with an error. Try setting HTC sync to do it with the phone conected.
