Help Sync gmail without syncing contacts.

Hey Guys

I have had a look and i cant find a thread that deals with my topic exactly...
So i have the desire HD and i was having some battery issues, as everyone else was/is. I have changed a few settings etc and have gotten to a place where i have all the usability i want alongside a battery life i am happy with (approx a day and a half). there is only one problem. I am unable to find a way to get the phone to auto sync my gmail and calender without auto syncing my contacts as well (i find the long sync of my contacts eats battery). When i go into the syncing options for Google mail it is a sync all 3 (mail calender contacts) or none at all scenario. Does anyone know of a solution to this or a work around? Any help would be much appreciated.

I can just go into the sync settings in the gmail account and untick the contact sync

Figured it out. I had auto sync off due to an app i downloaded and there were no options. When i turned it on i could see the options. Thanks anyway

Another way to achieve the same result, and leave auto-sync un-checked, is to use the Synker Widget.
