Help Sync Google Calendar Between Phone and Touchpad

:hahaha:Might someone help me determine what I need to do to get my Phone's calendar (LG Spectrum running ICS) sync'ed with my HP Touchpad's Calendar (running CM10)?

I do not know what feature I might have disabled or set incorrectly... This is probably some stupidly easy thing to do, yet, I'm stumped. I can figure out setting up multiple email accounts and their Incomming and Outgoing Server and security settings, but, I can't do this one seemingly simple thing.

Sometimes I feel like I should become a luddite.

What apps are you using in each?

Which one isn't working? Calendar sync settings can be found under settings... accounts... Google. Then tap the first entry (round dot) to see what's synced.

Yes, the default Calendar app in both builds. And yes, I checked to see what was set for Synch using my gmail account, and both Calendar and Contacts are set to synch.

When I pull up the People App in CM10, I see my contacts which I had entered on my phone. (Works)

However, I do not see any events entered into the Calendar on my phone on my TP. (Doesn't Work).

Ahh you may be on to something. No I cannot see my events on the PC when logged into my Google account.

Maybe I'm using this incorrectly? I thought if I entered events on my phone, they'd be reflected in my account (sync is on), and therefore, any device that synced with my account would also have a copy... and eventually I could enter a new event in any of three places (the PC, the Android phone running ICS, or the Android tablet running JB), and they'd be in sync.

Not so?

In theory they should all sync. I usually just add events at work in Outlook, then my work Exchange account trickles down to my 3 devices. I only use my Google calendar for holidays. :D

Maybe you should make a backup in recovery and a Titanium Backup (just apps+app data, nothing system), wipe data and try a fresh install. If it fixes it, work with it, otherwise restore your backup.

Before you do that, make sure your phone calendar is actually the stock google calendar and not some manufacturer version. Also, make sure your phone's calendar app is setup to not just be an "on-phone" calendar. I'm not familiar with LG's offerings but I know sometimes phones have options to store things only locally....especially contacts. Some mfgs have an option for "phone contacts only"....perhaps LG has the calendar app setup similarly.

What happens if you put an event on your PC? Does it show up on your other Android devices?

Nevertells. I'm glad you suggested that. Didn't occur to me.
Went on PC, entered event. Sure enough - event showed up on my Phone, and on my TouchPad.

My mental model is entering it anywhere should result in a synch. That evidently isn't working.

However, if I want to plan stuff, now I know how to do it.

Cool! Thanks.:smokingsomb:

When I suggested it, I assumed you'd play with it a bit. Guess I should have been more specific. :D

You should be able to enter stuff on your TouchPad and have it sync with your other Android devices. I'm gathering that events you enter on your phone syncs on the PC and TP.

I run my life with Google Calendar. You should definitely be able to enter and edit calendar events from any device. When I first set up my touchpad with cm9 calendar would not sync. Gmail worked fine but no calendar. I ended up doing a factory data reset and that fixed the problem.

Yes my expectations are that I can enter in any of the three places, and it should be reflected in all three places. But, no, I tried entering on my Touchpad and it wasn't reflected on my PC nor my phone.

I will try this again. Thanks.

If I enter the event in the PC, the event is reflected on the Phone and in the Touchpad.

If I enter the event on the Phone or the Touchpad, it is not reflected on the PC.

I have two Google accounts. One personal, one business. You can choose to share events between accounts so if I enter something on my personal calender I can see it on my business calendar. Perhaps you are running a different Google account on your PC that is shared with the account on your phone and tablet. But the account on phone and tablet are not shared with the PC account. Convoluted I know but something odd is going on.

Obviously your tablet is syncing with Google or the PC events wouldn't show up. Maybe its a privacy setting in calendar. Open your calendar app, go to->setting make sure sync is checked.

By the way did you know if you put an address in the "where" field. You can touch it and it will open in navigation.

Something definitely going on. Pretty sure security and sync options set properly. I will try the tip about the address. Yes, I find myself using Google Nav all the time. It's so good I run it with streaming music, and the audio is nicely coordinated, and often I don't even need to look at the moving map, since the spoken instructions are so nice.
