Help Sync Service Causing Battery Drain

So, I decided to connect my phone to my computer yesterday to charge it and sync. This was the first time I had done so. Verizon asked if I wanted to install some software to help sync media and whatnot, so I clicked yes. Ever since then, my battery life has been cut by like 75%. The battery monitor states that PVMtpServiceStart is using like 87% of my battery. There's also a program running at all times called "Sync Service," that restarts itself every time I force close it.

Has anyone else run into this problem? Anyone know how to fix it? I've looked around online and many people have had the problem, with some suggesting that it's the Blockbuster App, but I've already gone through the steps suggested to fix it and it's still happening. I'm positive that there's something wrong with the sync function that is causing this. Any help would be appreciated.

I doubt that blockbuster is causing the problem, unless of course you are using it. I haven't used it and no "blockbuster" shows up in my useage list in the battery info.

If you want to get rid of the VZ software, uninstall it from your computer and do what deano131 said and it wont try to reinstall:

I can't remember which forum I got this info from. I can't take credit for figuring this out but will pass it along.

What is happening, the phone has a cd drive auto start command installed just like when you drop a CD into your computer CD Drive. This allows the phone to auto install more Verizon bloatware on your computer. Here is how to disable the cd drive on the phone.
1. Open the phone app.
2. Dial ##7764726 and tap Call.
3. Enter the SPC password of 000000 (six zeros) and tap Verify.
4. Tap Feature Settings.
5. Select CD-ROM.
6. Select Disable.
7. Press Menu and commit modifications.

The phone will stop trying to install the Verizon app on your PC. Now go to your PC's Control Panel-Programs and then uninstall all Verizon apps you don't want on your PC.
If that is the issue, you should see improvement.

Please let us know if that works for you!

Yep, that worked. Thank you so much for the solution. It almost seems like my battery is working better now than before the problem started. That's probably just my imagination, though. Thanks again!

Thanks for the CD drive info. I didn't realize that. I had problems when connecting the phone to my pc. It would seem to take forever for me to be able to "see" my disk drive. Disabling the CD drive fixed that problem.
