Sync software for Android with ability to sms from PC

I'm quite new to using android and am looking for some help with regard to syncing my phone with my (Win7) PC. I'm used to a cool piece of desktop software that I used to run with my SonyEricsson called "MyPhoneExplorer" which allowed me to back up everything on my phone, including sms, AND allowed me to send and receive texts direct to laptop (when my phone was connected).

I realise that Android is a league apart from the days of simple sync software packages that were shipped with the phone, but I would appreciate some advice on Android software that includes the database sync/backup functionality as well as the sms send/receive features all in one place...

FYI, the software should be simply a PC version of my phone databases (address/calendar/etc). I do not wish to sync with outlook

Any help gratefully received...

Good News! MyPhoneExplorer works on Android too. You'll need to download the app via Play: MyPhoneExplorer and install it on your phone first though. If you still have MPE installed on your PC, it should work with the new phone too.
 
Yep, as EP says, just use MPE. You're familiar with it and it works on Android so unless it has any glaring feature omissions you absolutely need, MPE it has got to be.
