Help Sync with Google

Samsung Gravity Smart is my first android phone. I can't seem to get the Google calendar to sync with the phone. I have an account setup and I am getting my GMail. Also Google contacts sync to the phone just fine. Under setting in the calendar it shows the calendar as My calendar and My calendar as synced, visible.

Are items entered on the phone not appearing when you login on the desktop or vice versa? Or both? Do you have more than one email account on your phone?
