If you have a lot of pictures on your phone, renaming each file is probably more of a pain in the butt than doing a manual import. After launching iPhoto, select the Import to Library option from the File menu, navigate to the DCIM/Camera folder on the SD card (assuming the SD card has been mounted as a USB storage Device), and hit command+A to select all of your photos. Almost immediately, iPhoto will detect duplicates (if you have uploaded before) and ask if you want to upload duplicates again or skip them. It takes a little longer than the automatic process Apple USED to support with previous versions of iPhoto, but it's quicker than renaming lots of files. Plus, I *like* the YYYY-MM-DD-HH.MM.SS.jpg naming system on my Droid.
Let's hope Apple "fixes" this "bug", which may have been intentional to drive sales of the iPhone 4 away from Droid phones.
