Help syncing custom contact group

I configured my Contacts app to sync only contacts in a custom group (called "Phone"). It works great (I have only important contacts in my phone), except one thing: when I create new contact on my phone, it goes into "My Contacts" in my Google account, but not into "Phone" group. Since I don't sync "My Contacts" group, my new contact doesn't show in my Contacts app.

Is there a way to tell my phone that I want my new contacts to be put into "Phone" group, so that they show up in my phone?
