Syncing droid with laptop

I connected my droid to my laptop to download some photos and files from my droid to my laptop but when I clicked on the drive (identifying my droid) its tells me to insert a media. Is there a setting I need to do on my droid to allow my PC to allow it to be identified as a component that has files that can be transferred> I have a verizon carrier.

yes there's a simple setting. Pull down the top menu and select the third option down which is external drive or something like that. You'll be fine.
