Syncing FaceBook contacts to Android Question

I'm trying to sync my Facebook contacts to the contacts in my phone. On my old Nexus One, I used to be able to sync just the contacts in my phone, instead of all of my Facebook friends. On the EVO, I can't do that, and it syncs ALL of my Facebook friends.

Anybody know a way around this?
 
Good luck with the Facebook sync. I have no idea what my phone is doing 90% of the time it is on, but I blame Facebook for HTC for all its problems cause I don't know what else to blame.
 
Nope, their is:

People>Menu>View>check what you want

I only have Phone checked, I have my Facebook account synced, and all my contacts (which used to only be a name and a number) are updated to include pictures, birthdays, and a slew of other things.

No. Everybody stop this madness.

You cannot choose to only sync some of your facebook contacts. It is all or nothing. Although the feature that you mention sounds pretty awesome and I wish that we had it.

What everybody is telling you is that you have the option of which contacts are visible to you after they are all synced with facebook. If follow the path they said earlier and uncheck facebook, the facebook contacts are still syncing to your phone - you are just "hiding" them from your contact list. If they are properly linked to your phone contacts, then the result will be that you will only see your phone contacts, and your phone contacts will include all of the facebook information.

In effect, it accomplishes the exact same thing that you are looking to do via your old method.

Keep in mind though that this view feature is available only in contacts. When you "Search Contacts" then ALL of the contacts, including facebook contacts, are displayed. This means that you will be looking at just your phone contacts, and when you hit the search button, suddenly all those facebook contacts appear.
