Help Syncing with a Mac

AGAV13

Newbie
I have been trying to sync my Thunderbolt with my MacBook Pro and when I select "Disk Drive" or "Media Sync" I receive a message on may computer saying "Disk Insertion - The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer." Does anyone know how I can sync my phone to the computer so I can transfer files?

Plug in Tbolt to your Mac

Message pops up:

"The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer" and gives you the option to Ignore or Eject. Select Ignore.

On your thunderbolt, change the USB connection type to Disk Drive and press done.

Your tbolt should now be mounted on your Mac (works for me)

Yep, this is how it's done. I just did it last night to move some music, pictures, and game ROMs from my Incredible SD card to my new TB SD card. Works fine.

Skeletronix -- It pops up on your desktop as "Your Name" Droid. It will probably also open iPhoto which will see it as a camera also named your Droid. This is the way it is on my iMac.

Well, its SUPPOSED to. Haha. But its just not showing up. I just posted a similar thread and someone suggested that it will show up eventually. I had it plugged in as disk drive for 10 minutes and got nothing. More than 10 minuts seems a little extreme.

Anyone knows how to use "Internet Connection Mode" on a Mac? I tried figuring it out but it looks like HTC Sync is required which I can't find for a Mac platform.

Tip: eject the phone from the Mac before changing the connection on the phone from disk drive back to charge only. Otherwise you can't eject it

I'm having the same issue. Like others, it displays the "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer" message to which I clicked Ignore. But I nothing shows up in finder or on my desk top. However, if I boot up my Windows XP VM, it mounts a "removable drive" and a CD-ROM drive! And apparently the CD-ROM has a .startup file because it prompted me to run some verizon software (which I told it not to do). However, if I click those drives from the windows explorer, they prompt me to insert media??? I've seen other forums where there is a CD-ROM.iso on the phone that mounts and that is what is giving the Mac headaches, but the solutions for that don't work on my Thunderbolt. I'm about to call Verizon and see what they say. Surely the phone is compatible with a Mac. My Droid just plugged in and worked.

I got it to work!

Went to the verizon site and downloaded the V Cast Media Manager for the Mac. Entertainment and Apps from Verizon Wireless - V CAST Media Manager

Installed it, but then quit out of it.

Now when I connect the phone, I still get the disk not readable error, but after I click ignore, it mounts it as a NO NAME device.

Apparently the verizon app installs some type of driver that allows the mac to mount the drive. Hope this helps others.

No luck with that.

Not sure if this will help, but this is what I do and I have no problem and I don't use any extra drivers. When I connect the phone to my Mac, I get the error message about the device not being readable. I click ignore then, on the phone, pull down the top drop down menu (whatever that's called) and you'll see a USB icon. Click that and several options come up including to connect as a disk drive. Click that. On my Mac, I then have a device in Finder called NO NAME, which is the SD card.

To disconnect, eject the device in Finder first then change your connection option on the phone to charge only.

Hope this helps.

See I don't see a USB icon when I do that on the phone?

Just after you dismiss the error message on the Mac. The connection menu may appear briefly on your phone then disappear but you can get to it in the pull down menu.

Yes I tried what suggested with clicking ignore then clicking use as disk drive. It then showed up as no name on my desktop.

Vcast media manager worked! Thanks Lornewilson! And thanks to everyone at AF. Been awhile since I've been posting on here. Guess I got bored with my Eris. I can always find solutions here though. Now, back to my TB!!!!!

I have had the same problems stated above, and have needed to reboot my TB, this seemed to help the process along. Also, check out double Twist for syncing your iTunes account with your TB.

I'm wondering why you have to change to charge only after dismounting the device. Why can't you leave the setting as disk drive? What am I missing? Thanks.

Guess I was being over cautious with the SD card. It appears that you can just disconnect while still in disk drive mode (after ejecting from the Mac) with no problem. It'll switch back to charge only the next time you connect.
