Root Synergy ROM slow

How high are you trying to overclock. I would suggest staying below 1.5 if you are getting issues at that low of settig you may need to change your kernel.

What kernel are you using?

Mclabia recommends NOT changing kernals with this rom. Check out the thread about this rom and read through it and post issues there.

The only reason I can think of to not change the kernel is to meed the devs tweaks to the ramdisk, if someone wants then I can make them an anykernel that will save dev tweaks from whatever kernel they want. McLabia is part of the dev's team I would expect him to run the rom close to stock ;) I enjoy the freedom of being able to change my kernel as I feel that is part of the freedom of rooting.

I do agree the synergy thread would be a great thing for the OP to use since McLabia is the synergy support man and he pretty much stays on top of that thread.

setcpu locks up my phone. Is there certain settings?

I'm using setcpu and dconfig
Dconfig is included with the rom, I have it set to performance
Setcpu settings are 1497 max/ 245 min performance
anything over 1.4 seems to lock up my phone
be sure to uncheck set on boot on setcpu until your sure what settings work for you

I'm running Synergy ROM also and at certain times, it does seem to be slower than usual.

What kernel should I use?

I have never updated a kernel. In fact, I don't really know what kernels are. In any case, I should be using the stock kernel right now since I personally have never modified it. I've only rooted my phone and used a few ROMs. And to my knowledge, ROM's and rooting do not change the kernel.

You flash a kernel in recovery just like a rom, but you only wipe cache/dalvik cache when flashing a kernel. You aren't on the stock kernel, each rom comes packaged with a "stock" kernel which is usually a custom kernel. If Ziggy included kernel tweaks into the rom when you flash a new kernel unless it is in the "anykernel" format then you will lose the rom dev's kernel tweaks.

kernals are in the ROMs when you download/install them, from my understanding. so whatever "stock" kernal you are running is whatever is in the ROM. you can check the kernal in "about phone"

Ok that makes more sense.

I guess I should stick with the one provided by ziggy then.

If you are having lag I would suggest trying out different kernels. Not all phones react the same to one kernel someone may get great performance from one kernel while another person's phone can be unusable with the same kernel.

Also are you overclocked?

Which kernel would be good to use?

I am not overclocked. I have always been weary of overclocking anything.. although I have no real good reason. But in any case, I wouldn't even know where to begin.
