Root system/apps

Hello 1st timer here ( so please go easy)
Ok I got a evo and was having many text errors , I had my brother root /S-off/ and fix the radios, etc
That was about a week or so ago, no issues till I noticed. "Can't find null" in memory in the quick settings
I found how to fix this , by putting the .apk in the system/apps folder ......I cannot find this folder on the sd card ?am I looking in wrong place ?
Btw I'd call my brother but he lives back in jersey ,and was nailed by the storm
Any help would be much appreciated

it's not in the sd card, get a root explorer like file manager (or es file manager), look in the settings to allow root permissions, then just go up a level. The system / apps folder should be there somewhere.

Thanx dwappo I see where the file is , but now I'm not so sure how do I write the apk to that file, sorry for stupid questions but I've never dealt with this stuff , just happened to buy a Virgin Mobile phone and somehow I'm here in a strange place ,I just wanted a phone that worked ,instead I am gaining an education but wow total newbie to all of this
