Help System file missing, or what?

It's not bricked, but acts like it. EVO 4G.

All was well until morning, when I turned off the alarm from clock, then changed the scenery for the day. All of a sudden when I tried to turn on thr phone all I get is a box saying "Application HTI Sense (process com.htc.launcher) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." There is a "force close" button, but whether I tap it or just do nothing for a few moments, the message returns, forever.

Life has become a living hell. Can anyone help?

The launcher (home app) is crashing for some reason.
Before it crashes, would you have enough time to download an app from play store?

I am not familier with the device but there should be a way to boot the phone into recovery and clear the cache of the device without hard resetting/factory reset where it deletes all your info.

A mod should be along soon to move this to the proper device forum where other owners of the device should be able to provide the process to clear the cache in recovery.

What id do, if you cant install a different launcher, is find out how to boot that phone into "safe mode".
This disables all downloaded apps.
If the launcher doesnt crash in safe mode then its probably an app youve downloaded or a developer option youve changed thats causing it so that will help narrow it down.
If none of these work or Woohoo's suggestion of clearing cache then the next step is a factory reset or reflashing factory firmware. You certainly arent bricked so dont worry too much :beer:

I'm still looking at the Recovery and Clear Storage options on the Fastboot menu. I really, really don't want to lose my unbacked up stuff. Thanks y'all.
