Just got this notice on my phone. Has anyone upgraded? Will this break my root? I'm coming from a jailbreaked iPhone so I'm leery of any system updates. Thanks.

There's a firmware update and a htc update. Are they the same?
same here. would like to know how this affects people using unrevoked.

I was semi rooted with unrevoked. I didnt change anything and did the update.
Most of my widgets now say "Problem loading Gadget" lol
Update: Forgot to mention, unrevoked does not work after the update. Woops.

Update has finished and everything on my Evo seems fine. What exactly was the update supposed to fix? I can't find an official statement on Sprint or HTC's site for the official announcement.

Just updated and it took a good bit of time to boot back up and appeared to freeze on the 4G screen, but eventually turned back on

Where are you getting the update from? When I go to check updates for both firmware and htc software update I get a message saying there are no updates for my phone. I wonder if they are rolling it out based on location.

Everything seems fine now. Had to replace some of my widgets with themselves, but otherwise all is well.

All of my apps run fine, nothing seems broken. Maybe it's just me, but the phone seems to be a little quicker @ doing things. Probably just psychological though.

same here...installing as i type this...anyone know what Exactly it fixes? theres been rumors of it fixing the wifi issue..but not sure what else it fixes

I was just thinking the same thing, it does seem faster. Apps open much faster

Side note:
While downloading the HTC software update do not attempt to scan for a Firmware update to install. Mine became corrupted and i needed to re-download it which sucks because i was at 20MB out of the 21.4 that it is.
Oh well live n learn but thought i would share.

I can really tell a difference when I went to manage applications. Used to take a good 10-20 seconds to load, took about 3 seconds.
