System Upgrade 1.47.651..1 (21.43 MB) Now Available

you guys that bricked. lets get some scenarios out there.

- rooted? yay or nay, I personally uninstalled UNREVOKED, superuser perms and installed just fine.

- installed 2nd update upon just finishing installing 1st? I never got a 2nd popup. So ima say DONT INSTALL UPDATE #2.

From what i can see is that those that are bricked are those people are doing a battery pull after a few moments while its rebooting. Just like a gaming system or a PC it says not to power off until its complete. I have an inkling that something similar is happening here.

I downloaded it, while downloading i searched for new firmware, it corrupted my original HTC download. Started from scratch, took all of 5 min to download again on 3G and it installed.

Installation took just a few moments and then it did probably 3 to 4 reboots. Screen came on, vibrated and went to a black screen with green icon and had a progress bar on it. I left it alone and let it do this a few times. Once done it booted to the 4G screen and let me go from there.

It said the software was successfully installed and im able to go on my merry way. I tried to install it again and it said nope, not allowed that its already up to date.

Sorry to hear that some are having issues with this.

BTW: Hardware Version 2

Where can i go to delete the downloaded update? I'm afraid I'm gonna press the "System update is ready" in the notifications...

its telling me that the system update is ready...do i hit "install" or will this do the second install or just complete the process?

I have no root, my phone was 3 days old "today".
I did the first install, it was fine, and it automatically started downloading something else and then asked if I wanted to install it now or later. I said now. BRICK

Northern Va
Took about 5 min to update with phone going through reboot process, Had a circle with 2 arrows and 1 down the middle.
seem to work when placed on the desk, don't know what other updates were done. All widgets were in the place and seem to work fine.

No issues with the install here. Went smooth. Haven't really had a chance to play with it too much to notice a difference but anxiously watching the forums for news

Did the update and it went smooth. I did have to delete/reinstall the HTC widgets on my home screens though.

Then after putting the phone down I noticed it started downloading another update on it's own. Never even asked me. I cancelled it at 40% and it now says I'm up to date and no updates available so...

Mine has been installing for a few mins now... (about 3-4 mins) and has restarted twice I think. I also unrevoked as well. Lets see what happens...

Ok... the whole install took about 6 mins. Phone rebooted about 3 or 4 times. Everything is working great, except when I try to launch my wireless tether (via unrevoked) I get the error message:

"Sorry, you need to be rooted"

So I guess this removed my unrevoked... I may have to install it again....

Update took about 30 minutes, 15 of those were sitting on the 4G screen. I thought the phone had bricked but finally it loaded. I can confirm the grounding issue is gone. I tried it on numerous surfaces. I find it interesting that a software update fixed that, I would have thought that was a hardware issue.

I still have light leakage and a loose battery cover; the update didnt fix that :D

I'm going to march my @ss down to BB and give the fking thing back and just wait until it's stable. It would be my 4th EVO. My only option now to switch to a different provider for a month if I want to keep my number.

Bad karma? You have such bad luck with Evo's.

You might try calling tech support first. There might be a way to hard reset with them. Can't hurt (except the time it takes to get past level one).

I am not rooted. In fact, I had no 3rd party apps on my phone. i had recently done a factory reset so I was just running what came with the phone.

The first update went fine. The 2nd update bricked the phone.

I agree, do not install the 2nd update

I got the update here in Austin, TX. Have not noticed anything different. My wifi signal is the same and ran some tests and still the same. Don't think the 802.11N was unlocked. I did not have any grounding issues before. I'll have to see how well the battery tweaks are. I'm on version 002.

Alright, didn't step away for long. 15 minutes later, still on the white HTC screen - no reboots, nothin'.

Just as an FYI, yes I went through the black/progress bar screens. It showed complete, rebooted to the white HTC screen and here I sit...now 17 minutes later (well, an hour after this whole process got started)

DON'T MESS WITH THE PHONE WHILE ITS INSTALLING/REBOOTING

It WILL take some time.
It WILL reboot a few times.

If you screw with it then you run the risk of bricking it. Just let it do its thing.

Mine has been installing for a few mins now... (about 3-4 mins) and has restarted twice I think.

It takes a few reboots. Just walk away from it when its doing it. You may be tempted to think its broken and start messing with it. This is also true of installing service packs on Windows. Just walk away.

My 002 updated fine. Several reboots but no brick. Widgets gone but screen rotation is now almost instantaneous.

No real problems here, just seemed to take a bit to restart after the update was installed, but I suppose that's to be expected.

Some people mentioned that apps or widgets needed to be replaced. I needed to remove and readd the voicemail icon on my homescreen. That wasn't a big deal, but it took a moment for me to remember what icon it was. I can imagine that would be a pain in the neck if multiple icons or widgets had to be removed and readded.

At first, the phone was real slow after the update, scrolling, opening, etc. I was thinking, "oh sh-t", but after a few minutes, I guess the phone caught up with itself, and it does seem faster. I'm at work so I haven't really used it. Somebody mentioned "Manage Applications" is loading much faster, I tested that, and for me, it does load much, much faster.

My update went well! I was reading this thread while it was going... and it rebooted like 5 times, I was a bit worried - lol. But I'm glad I didn't take out the battery or anything. Eventually it completed and I got a 'Congrats' message when it turned back on :P

Nope....

I went through the first install with no issues. It took about 5 minutes, rebooted the phone twice and was fine. No battery pull done at any time

Doing the 2nd install bricked my phone to the point that it doesn't even power up

During the update the phone rebooted about 4/5 times (lost count). It takes a long time (feels way longer) to update the phone. do not touch it while the update is going on otherwise it will brick it. basically run the update and your phone will reboot instantly. then the update screen will come on and it will continue for a long time - it will almost appear that the phone is hung during the update. Let it continue. Mine just finished after about 10-15min.

After the update ...

  • Wait till the phone reboots for the final time before touching it. you will know when sprint logo comes on and you see a pop up on screen which says "phone has been updated to version 1.47"
  • None of the widgets worked - text said "problem loading gadget". delete them and re-add. annoying but nothing to get upset about.
  • wallpaper defaulted to original wallpaper with colored circles.
