System Upgrade 1.47.651..1 (21.43 MB) Now Available

Also I don't necessarily think that being on this forum makes anyone more or less likely to brick their phone during the update. People on here are the ones that know how to do hard resets and battery pulls, not the average Joe which is unlikely to do either during the update process.

No, i'm saying that the forum guys will likely check the forums first before installing any updates. They are the "in" crowd. I think they are less likely because they are more informed.

perhaps I am the exception but while I was at work it notified me of the update and I had no reason to check the forums first - I knew an update was rolling out today and had no reason to suspect any problems. Nor did I encounter any.

Tell Sprint this is unacceptable and you want to be reimbursed for one month, I did and they agreed to it, I threaten to cancel sprint. Everybody who bricked their phones should do the same.

Same here. Mine bricked on the second update.

On the phone with Sporint now giving them one last chance. I will miss my Evo. Was my favorite phone ever...until this AM.

Same for me. I had to pull out my old T-Mobile Dash while I decide what I'm going to do. No way was going to pay for service without a phone or let Sprint send me a Refurb one when mine was 3 days old.

I've lost my 8 year old phone number so it doesn't matter any more.
It hurts to much to even think about it. :(

I have no root, my phone was 3 days old "today".
I did the first install, it was fine, and it automatically started downloading something else and then asked if I wanted to install it now or later. I said now. BRICK

^^^^^
This is exactly what mine did. Phone is two weeks old, hardware 3.

I was too upset to even think about that. My only reimbursement will be if my rebate check slips through the cracks.

Everything is running smooth on my end, the only thing is my HTC wallpapers are missing and I just had to replace one shortcut app. Will see how the battery life is later.

So does the phone brick ONLY when you apply the update again?

is the best method to update, then turn off update notifications?

EVO auto prompted to update around 10:30 this morning. Ran the update, took about 10 minutes. Note: the phone did sit on the install screen without any progress bar for what seems 5 minutes or so. Eventually auto rebooted and everything came up just fine. Have not noticed any difference. WiFi does not seem any better. Battery life does not seem any better. Have not noticed any other differences, good or bad.

Just hollered at my 7th Sprint employee. Still nothing.

Reactivating Pre while shopping...

*sigh*

The new update wasted my EVO, I just got back from sprint. They will give me a new one tomorrow or the next day. The update ruined the software in the phone. Funny thing is my son updated his with no problems.

Man i feel bad for all you guys about this update that are having problems. I received mine around 12pm and did it. I am running version 2 and installed the update just fine. Only widget that i had to replace was LED Flash light switch. Other than that i had no other problems. Even my gtalk or whatever was still signed out. Manually checked for updates and everything is up to date.

FWIW - I got my upgrade notice when I was at lunch.
It upgraded, all it well. All programs work fine...
I'm stock (not rooted)...
Ver 0003

I have a verison .0002 and I dont see any update through the system updates/HTC software nor I gotten any indication that there was an update ready to be downloaded???

Greetings!!
First post for me. :) Just installed the update for my EVO. Running like a champ. None of my widgets or screens changed. During the install, the EVO did reboot about 3 times. And it took approx. 15-20 minutes. Out of curiosity, I downloaded Speed test and compared results before and after.

Before Install: 3G download @ 0.36 - 0.52 Mbps. Upload 0.49 - 0.76
4G download @ 1.75 Mbps. Upload 0.33.

After install; 3G download @ 1.07 Mbps. upload was 0.85.
4G download @ 3.25 Mbps. Upload @ 0.92.

Same herr just the icon app for office changed and qik Also we lost android wallpapers

Checked for software updates this morning, none available. Then went to HTC software update and said one was available and I updated. Hardware version 0003, phone not rooted. Download load took quite a while as Sprint 3G data in Orange County CA. seems swamped (No 4G here). After DL update started. took about another 10 minutes then completed. Did not start another update, says it's updated. Couple Missing Widgets, removed - reloaded OK now. Android Wallpapers gone :-(. Phone seems faster and seems to be more memory freed up. I use Advanced Task Killer. Grounding issue, well I never noticed one but tested today and works fine. WiFi working fine.

They actually suggested I cancel my account when I asked not to have to pay for service I was not recieving while I wait for a replacement for my brick. It left me feeling so appreciated.

Hardware Version 0003 here. Manually installed the update ONCE today and everything seemed fine, initially. However, I later noticed that Wi-Fi and 4G were both "Unable to Start" or "Failed". Many service calls and a trip to the Sprint Service Center later, the phone has been hard reset but still no Wi-Fi or 4G. Only recourse now is to go back to Sprint Corporate (from whom I bought the phone) to see what they can offer. Unfortunately, they closed at 5pm today. Pretty frustrating... this has been my first real problem with the Evo.
