System volume is loud

I really love my Note 2014, but one thing that irks me is that the system volume is LOUD! :( Even at low settings (I have mine only 2 detents up from silent on the slider) the system sounds are much louder than I would have expected.

I realise that I could simply switch the slider to silent, but I quite like the Galaxy "plop" sound. I have it on my S3 and there the system volume is nice and quiet and unobtrusive at a minimal detent, but still audible. But on the Note it is much louder than I think that it ought to be. My impression is that the slider appears to go from 100% at max to approx 50% at one detent above silent, then drops off only when you switch to silent. That has to be wrong???

I do also realise that the speakers on the Note are bigger than on the S3, but that shouldn't make a difference.

Has anyone experienced the same? Might this be resolved in the MJ6 (or MK1) update?

After having tablets where the sound was way too low, where you couldn't hear ANYTHING except with an earpiece, I'd prefer it being loud.

Yes, the speakers are loud. But if I turn the volume down only half way on the volume slider, it becomes practically silent.
