T-Mobile/Metro Talks

I'm having second thoughts on buying the new Samsung G3 not knowing what's going to become of Metro.
 
How will this effect us or even the release of the Galaxy S3? Isn't T-Mobile GSM?

I don't wanna drop the big bucks on a phone such as the S3 only to be told I have to " trade it in " in a year to get a new phone.
 
What will this merger ( if it happens ) mean for coverage for Metro users - will they get better coverage ( adding TM towers in the mix ) or are they different and will have to rely on TM to update or expand metro coverage???

Doubtfull, tmobile has some pretty good prepaid plans, they just want the added spectrum and a base LTE structure, I am actually hoping this goes through and eventually Metro would go GSM so i could get an unlocked phone and use it on el cheapo plans that Tmobile/Metro will have.
 
how can a gsm and cdma work together? i think thats going to cause problems right? or they might try and force us over to their network??....having a gsm phone would be good for me because i move around alot so i could get it unlock but i am kinda worried about the gsm and cdma thing
 
How is TMobile doing financially? Because network integration between Verizon and Alltel costed big red a pretty Penny and those were both CDMA!
 
you'll find out tomorrow when it gets voted on.

Worst case scenario you can always take the phone else where's or sell it. Lol I've never seen so many people get worked up over "speculations". First the damn phone and now this and ain't neither one happened yet.
 
You'll be ok with the s3.

However, I would hold off, if the merger takes place, because in another month the next Nexus will be out...which should be both better and cheaper...

If this meant being able to get the note 2 I would skip over the s3 for that but it certainly won't be cheaper.
 
I prefer lte over hspa anytime and the reason tmobile is making this move is because of metro's lte metro had a for sale sign in their forehead for a good year I'm not surprised at all I will still buy a s3 anyway the future is lte not hspa
 
I guess if you call wanting to be informed as to what choice to make regarding the S3 " worked up " , then I guess I am worked up.

I don't want to purchase a $500 phone to have to SELL it a year, doesn't that defeat the purpose of buying this phone we all wanted in the first place?

Guess I will sit back and wait ...see what happens.
 
I had heard from a T-Mobile exec around 2 months ago that this was happening. If it does, I hope they don't kill the pricing Metro has. It would be great if they could figure out how to share their towers considering that Tmobile is GSM and Metro is CDMA.
