Root T on the status bar

Hello, my dad has my old esteem with number 2 on it and he has been telling me that there was a big T next to the 4g symbol on his status bar.

I had him take a screenshot of it before it went away. It just started recently and goes away after awhile.

Does anyone know what it is?

Pull the framework or systemui apart, find the icon and see what it says.

If i am not misteaken i think that is the gps privacy setting i think they may have changed from the dot with the circle around it to a T. Cause that dam cirlcle is dumb . But the T maybe the privacy gps

I don't remember this T ever popping up when I had the esteem. So I got curious and decompiled your SystemUI.apk.

The T png is called stat_sys_tty_mode.png

This is for the hearing impaired which is a speech to text service for deaf people.

If you want that thing gone, I believe you can disable it somewhere in your settings.

Checked in the call settings and tty mode was set to tty vco, I turned it off. Thanks for looking. I didn't really have a way to do that atm.
