Hi all,
Maybe some of you can help me figure out the problem here.
Short story: one of them frequently reboots. It is also prone to having apps report they've "stopped." It started recently. This used to happen once every 10 minutes or so of use... I eventually used an app to clear all the app caches (no effect), did the wipe cache partition treatment (no effect), and did a factory data reset (major improvement). It now encounters problems every hour or so of use.
What can I do to find the problem and clear it up? Some more detail:
I've actually got two same model US Samsung Tab2 10.1 tablets, both on OS 4.2.2, both of similar vintage. Both are attached to the same Google account and both have similar suites of apps installed. Nothing exotic app wise, no root or other advanced stuff. They are used for casual web use and my kids play games (Minecraft, Angry birds type games).
The one my younger son uses is the one with the problem. It's not just him, as I've had it reboot on me when I was just browsing the web or doing other innocuous stuff. The other tablet, used by my older son, is rock solid.
Both tablets use the google backup function, so after the FDR, all my apps were reinstalled. I had uninstalled all "crapapps" before doing the FDR. Seriously, there's not much installed beyond the standard Samsung suite, Chrome, a bunch of games, weatherbug, Tapatalk, and a very few other things I've put on there.
OFten the first sign of trouble is "Samsung Keyboard has stopped"... then it starts freezing and eventually reboots.
Thoughts on troubleshooting / correcting this?
Is there a good /easy way to install none of the Samsung stuff? Seriously, I use none of it at all. Since the FDR helped a lot, I'm assuming I'm still dealing with a software issue, rather than a hardware failure. Does this seem reasonable?
Thanks in advance!
Marc
